There is nothing better than getting together with friends and watching a football game (or any other sporting event for that matter). While this could be done at home, there is something special about going out to a sports bar or restaurant to enjoy a better atmosphere, good food, and maybe even a couple of drinks. If you are looking for the perfect place to watch that big game, here are three great sports bars in Bogotá to do it!
There’s something special about big matches. Everyone walks around town with their favorite team’s t-shirt on, with a look of excitement in their face, waiting for work to be over for the day to meet their friends and colleagues to watch their team play. This isn’t something exclusive to huge fans, as almost any person will be seen at some point wearing the t-shirt of their favorite soccer, football or basketball team. Watching at home is great, but an even more fun way to watch a game is to get together with your friends in a restaurant or bar and have some food and maybe a beer while seeing a big Champions League match, the NBA finals or even the NFL Superbowl.
District Sports Bar
Located at Parque de la 93, District Sports Bar boasts over 50 television screens, making it one of the biggest venues in the city for watching any sporting event. It’s a fairly new bar, having been opened only recently. This is the dream for any sports fan, as it has not only a huge amount of screens to watch almost any sport but also a special XBOX lounge, where you can play some sports videogames as you wait for the real game to start. In addition, watching the winners of the NBA Championship has historically been quite tricky in Bogota, but the District Bar has full coverage this year. Basketball fans should order themselves a beer, a few snacks from the menu and pull up a chair. This year is set to be a great match.
The food at District Sports Bar is exclusively “American” food, meaning Hamburgers, Ribs, Chicken Wings, Nachos, Steaks, and a wide array of cocktails, beers, and alcoholic beverages. In short, District Sports Bar is the perfect place for you to gather a large group of friends and have a day worth remembering.
Buffalo Wings
As the name suggests, Buffalo Wings is the place in Bogotá to have some of the best Chicken Wings in the city. Additionally, to the great food, this is also a great restaurant to watch sporting events, as it provides spacious and comfortable premises with a lot of screens and, in some cases, giant ones for the really special games. Because Buffalo Wings is a restaurant chain, there are multiple locations throughout the city, meaning that you can most likely find one close to you. Sometimes, this restaurant offers an all-you-can-eat promo, where you can pay around 40.000 COP (16 USD) and eat as many chicken wings as your stomach allows you to, so you should definitely follow them on Instagram to know when this promotion is happening. Buffalo Wings is a very popular place in Bogotá, so if you are planning on going to watch a big game, make sure you get there fairly early!
Rathskeller Craft Beers
The main attraction of Rathskeller Craft Beers is (obviously) to enjoy a wide variety of Colombian craft beers, but its menu also has some dishes perfect for watching any sporting event, such as Hamburgers, Nachos, Chicken Wings, and even German Sausages. Even though the venue is much smaller than the previous two, Rathskeller can be a great choice if you want a quieter, more beer-oriented place to watch football. It is located at Carrera 19 with Calle 108, at a walkable distance from many other restaurants and interesting places, so you should definitely give it a go with a couple of your closest friends!
If you really want to get the most out of any sporting event, then there is no reason why you shouldn’t try out the sports bars in Bogotá listed above. Even though watching sports at home can be fun, nothing surpasses the sheer emotion and utterly thrilling atmosphere of watching a big match accompanied by your closest friends, some chicken wings and a beer, so make sure that you go visit these bars and restaurants, and let us know in the comments below what your experience was in each of them.
