In the age of reggaeton and club music, there are still plenty of us who would much rather listen to some good old rock and roll. Thankfully, not every restaurant and bar has strayed away from the greatest music genre in history, and some have made rock and roll a staple in their menus. Here are a couple of amazing restaurants and bars where you can eat great food, have a beer, and listen to rock n’ roll in Bogotá!
Music has changed a lot in the last couple of years. Nowadays, the most popular genres to dance and even listen to have become reggaeton, hip hop, and techno. This means that for those of us who like other types of more “old school” music, such as rock n’ roll, bar and club options are very limited. Check out these bars and restaurants in Bogotá where rock and roll still lives and stays strong!
Ozzy: The Rock Company
Live music, every type of beer you could think of, a wide variety of food and liquors, and the option to dance to the best rock and roll is what you’ll find at Ozzy Bar. Even though you can go to this place to simply eat dinner, as they offer a very complete menu, you’ll get the most out of it if you go to have a couple of drinks and treat it as a bar/club instead of as a restaurant. They have live bands performing every weekend, usually as tributes to the greats of rock n roll. Ozzy is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 7 pm to 3 am, and you can expect to spend anywhere from $30,000 COP to $60,000 COP ($10-20 USD), depending on if you eat or only have drinks. Sometimes there is also a cover cost, so make sure to check out their webpage for more information. It is located here, fairly centrally in town, so if you’re looking for a place to spend the whole night eating, drinking and dancing, this is the place for you!
Rock and Roll Circus
If you aren’t looking for a party-like experience like the one you’d get in Ozzy Bar and you would rather just have a somewhat quiet evening with your friends or with your date, Rock and Roll Circus may be much more suitable for that purpose. For starters, it’s located in Usaquén, one of the most beautiful and most popular neighborhoods in Bogotá. So you could go for a walk after you eat and drink because the streets of Usaquén are worth visiting. The prices for cocktails hover around $24,000 COP ($7 USD) and for food dishes, around $20,000 COP ($6 USD). You can find their complete menu here. This is one of my favorite places to go with my friends because the food is good and the music is great!
Abbott y Costello Rock Bar
One of the most well-known and traditional bars within the rock and roll scene in Bogotá is Abbott and Costello Rock Bar. This is a place where you can celebrate your birthday, visit during one of their special events (Halloween parties, anniversaries, tributes, etc.), or simply if you want to have a fun night accompanied by cocktails and the best rock n roll in town. They host live bands as well, and most of the time you’ll have to pay a cover, but part of it counts as a coupon for you to consume something inside. Even though they don’t offer food, the variety of cocktails you can find is astonishing (check out their menu here). It is located in a central and easy to reach a place in Bogotá, at Calle 65 and Carrrera 13. Definitely give it a go; they have existed for 35 years and they are one of the most popular rock bars in Bogotá for a reason!
If you are a little bit tired of pop and reggaeton, if you want to try something different, or if you simply want to remember the golden age in these rock n’ roll bars and restaurants in Bogotá you can do exactly that. Rock and roll forever, my friends!
